SAFD’s 2011 APPLICATION PROCESS HAS FINISHED.

IF YOU MISSED IT, PLEASE CHECK THIS WEBSITE IN THE SPRING OF 2012 FOR THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE NEXT PROCESS.

SAFD is always recruiting, but we only take applications one month out of the year.

Don’t forget that:

  • SAFD's 6 month training class is GI Bill eligible.
  • Eligible Military Vets receive 5 points on the Entrance Exam with a DD214 showing an Honorable Discharge AND a minimum of 180 days consecutive service.
  • SAFD DOES NOT HAVE AN ONLINE APPLICATION.

Becoming a Firefighter with the SAFD is not easy but with the right attitude and dedication, it can be accomplished.

There are three main phases candidates must complete to become a Firefighter:

Overall, The selection process is very grueling and lengthy but the reward is a livelihood with one of the best organizations in the city—the San Antonio Fire Department.

In the Line of Fire is an insightful show about fire safety and other fire department related issues. The show, produced by the San Antonio Fire Department, covers timely topics discussed to increase the safety of San Antonio and Bexar County citizens. Guests on the show include fire fighting professionals and subject experts from a variety of safety and health related fields.
