Park patrons urged to exercise care when barbecuing

San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department officials issued a reminder today urging park patrons to use extreme caution when barbecuing, due to continuing dry conditions in the region.

Park users must confine fires to approved barbecue pits. Campfires, bonfires or cooking fires are prohibited by ordinance. Violation of the ordinance may result in a Class C Misdemeanor.

“The spring-like weather brings people out to the park which is what we want” says Director Xavier Urrutia, “but we want to make sure everyone has a safe experience and they act responsibly.”
