News Release San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department Contact: Kelly Irvin/207-6122 Date: Feb. 2, 2009 Applications available on-line for summer recreation jobs College students, lifeguards, retirees, arts and science teachers, and others looking ahead for summer jobs are invited to apply for one of more than 400 jobs that will be available for summer 2009 in San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department programs. Applications are available on-line at http://www.sanantonio.gov/hr. Or citizens may go to the Ronald R. Darner Parks and Recreation Operations Headquarters, 5800 Old Highway 90 West; the City of San Antonio Human Resources Office, 111 Plaza de Armas; or any branch library to apply on-line. Among the positions available are lifeguards, pool attendants, pool supervisors, arts and science enrichment specialists, recreation assistants, and recreation specialists. Many of these temporary positions will be filled for the department’s summer youth recreation programs that run for eight weeks in June and July. Lifeguards and public service attendants must be 16 or older and training will be provided. All other applicants must be 18 or older. The starting wage for lifeguards and public service attendants working at the outdoor pools is $8.75 as well as for the recreation assistant positions working with schools and community centers. Other positions run from $11.08 to $15.03, depending on the level of expertise and responsibility required. For more information, call 207-3000.
