The mission of the Department is to develop and maintain a balanced, safe and easily accessible system of parks, recreational facilities and programs, as well as promote and maintain world-class facilities to further the City’s prominence as a major tourist destination. On this web site, you will find information about a variety of recreational programs, special facilities, sports programs, programming for seniors and people with disabilities, a detailed list of our capital improvement projects and much more. All of these items reflect our efforts to carry out our mission and to continually contribute to the quality of life enjoyed by citizens in San Antonio.
