New: Summer Job Fairs slated for March 6, April 10, 2008
More than 200 positions available!


Spring is in the air making now the best time to get a jump on summer employment. The San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department has more than 200 temporary, summer jobs available and has scheduled two job fairs in March and April. The dates and locations are as follows: Thursday, March 6 at McFarlin Tennis Center, 1503 San Pedro, and Thursday, April 10, at Lou Hamilton Community Center, 10700 Nacogdoches. Hours are 4 to 7 p.m.

Positions include lifeguards, recreation coordinators, assistants and specialists, community center supervisors, art and science instructors and office assistants for the summer recreation programs that include Kid Quest, Play Zone and Teen Connection. Applicants must be 18 and have a high school diploma or GED. Pay starts at $8.75, but may be as much as $13.82 for employees with additional experience and expertise.

We're also hiring aquatic services supervisors, pool supervisors, and public service attendants for the summer swim season that begins Saturday, June 7, 2008. Applicants must be 16 and over, strong swimmers and pass a swim skills test. The department provides CPR and lifesaving training. Pay also starts at $8.75 for most positions with lifeguards receiving a starting salary of $9.02. For more information, call 207-3000.

Are you energetic, enthusiastic, creative, and love working with people? Well, San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department wants you! We are now hiring for part time and seasonal employees.

The Parks and Recreation Department maintain 205 facilities, which include swimming pools, sports facilities, gymnasiums, community centers, a dance studio, and numerous other facilities for participants to enjoy.

During the summer months, Parks and Recreation hires more than 500 employees to make our participants’ summer more enjoyable. These employees work with participants of all ages, at various facilities, with numerous summer programs.

How to apply:

· Review vacant job listing online or at the Human Resources Department. They are updated daily, except for Sunday.
· Review job descriptions by reading over the job skills required, the job responsibilities and the starting salary. Match your skills and needs with those positions listed.
· Fill out a City of San Antonio job application, available at the Human Resources Department, any Community Link Center, or the Parks and Recreation Department’s office at 1635 N.E. Loop 410 Ste. 800.
· Submit completed application to the Human Resources Office or Parks and Recreation Department’s office at 1635 N.E. Loop 410 Ste. 800.
· All applicants will be subject to a Criminal Background Investigation and Drug Test.
