The San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department will have a public input meeting to review and receive comments form the public regarding the finalization of a master plan for Miraflores, a portion of Brackenridge Park, at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, at Lion’s Field Adult and Senior Citizens Center community room, 2809 Broadway.
The Miraflores property, formerly known as the Uruttia Estate, was purchased by the City in 2006. The property previously was owned by the University of the Incarnate Word and A.T.&T. It is recognizable as the property with the statues and sculpture along Hildebrand Avenue between the entrance to Brackenridge Park and the AT&T office building.
Parks and Recreation Department officials said the master plan will address issues such as the construction of a pedestrian access bridge over the San Antonio River from Brackenridge Park and restoration of the artwork on the property in an effort to restore the original beauty to this portion of the Uruttia Estate.
The project is funded by the City of San Antonio and a grant from the San Antonio Conservation Society, which will be used for the restoration of the artwork.
Citizens who have general information about the history of this property, as well as photographs, are invited to share those with the department by calling 207-2872. In addition, the department is seeking any information available regarding the sculptures that are on the property and those sculptures that, over the years, have been moved to other locations. All citizens interested in Miraflores are invited to attend the public input meeting.
For more information, call 207-2879.
