Miss Recreation 2009

2009 Miss Recreation Court

Traditional Miss Recreation BowMiss Recreation 2009 is Angel Anthony, 16, a junior at Burbank High School. She won the coveted spot on March 21 in a pageant held at Jo Long Theatre at the Carver Cultural Center.

Most Congenial belongs to Savannah Lugo, 15, a sophomore at Southwest High school. Harley Steele, 15, is the first runner up. She is a freshman at Business Career High School. Second runner up is Esmeralda Trevino, 17, a senior, also at Business Careers High School.

The Alamo Community College District Foundation has joined the department in celebrating this tradition by providing scholarships for the winner and runners up. Miss Recreation 2009 will receive a $1,000 scholarship from ACCD Foundation to match the $1,000 scholarship award offered by Parks and Recreation.

In addition, ACCD Foundation will award a $500 scholarship to the first runner up and $250 to the second runner up to be used to attend one of four ACCD campuses. Participants must live in the San Antonio metropolitan area and they must be available for local appearances throughout the reign.

Travis FloristParticipants must be between the ages of 13 to 18. The contestants are judged for poise and personality during the interview preliminaries. Each also must submit an essay on the benefits of Parks and Recreation to qualify to participate.
