Park Police Explorer Handout (PDF)
The San Antonio Park Police Explorer Post 9826 was established in memory and honor of Park Police Officer Paul Pytel who gave his life in the line of duty on July 31, 1994.
Police Exploring is for both male and female young adults between 15 and 21 years of age who want to learn more about law enforcement.
Police Explorers learn about basic police procedures, tactics and techniques and receive training in the many areas of law enforcement such as conflict resolution, traffic stops, physical training, water survival, self-defense, radio procedures and law enforcement across 20,000 acres of City of San Antonio park lands. Explorers also learn about investigating criminal activity and compete with other explorer posts to demonstrate their skills, leadership and teamwork. Explorers participate in community service by assisting at various events with Park Police officers such as crowd control and other public events. Explorers sponsor fund raising activities as well as social events to enhance the teamwork concept.
