The San Antonio Park Police Division is currently authorized officers and civilian employees as follows:
One Park Police Chief, one Captain, two Lieutenants, 13 Sergeants, approximately 112 Park Police, One Administrative Assistant II and three Administrative Assistants.
The Human Resources Department of the City of San Antonio is responsible for advertising and hiring for the position of Park Police.
The position of Park Police (number 0626) is a non-grant funded, non-exempt position described as follows:

Job Summary:
Under general supervision, performs enforcement and security work in City Parks & River Walk activities; enforces all applicable laws and ordinances; and provides information pertaining to park use, safety requirements, and points of interest. Exercises no supervision.
Essential Job Functions:
1.
Follows and enforces all Rules, Regulations, and Ordinances;
2. Assists patrons on the facilities and points of interest available and assists visitors,
3. Patrols assigned area in a diligent and timely manner, always being on the alert for safety hazards;
4. Insures the safety and security of all patrons.
5. Prepares incident / offense reports as required in clear and precise manner that is complete and free of errors.
6. Enforces all laws of the State of Texas and the City of San Antonio.
Job Requirements:
Graduation from high school or a General Education Development (GED) Certificate;
Successful completion of a Peace Officer Certification training program approved by the Officer Standards and Education;
Must possess a current Peace Officer Certification from a training institution approved by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education, passed all relevant examinations and is eligible to be licensed as a Peace Officer when all license application documents have been received and approved by TCLEOSE immediately upon appointment or be currently licensed as a Peace Officer by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education;
Must possess a valid Class “C” Texas Drivers License or obtain a valid Class “C” Texas Drivers License within thirty (30) days after becoming a resident of the State of Texas.
ANY APPLICANT SELECTED FOR EMPLOYMENT WITH THE CITY OF SAN ANTONIO WILL BE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT TO PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TESTING. FULL COMPLETION OF PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TESTING WITH A VERIFIED NEGATIVE RESULT IS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a Peace Officer.

Work Hours: Assignments may consist of shiftwork, weekends and holidays.
