Sgt. Brady with Chief Baum Brady receives sergeant's badge

Command Staff, Park Police Officers, family and friends cheered for Officer Brady Wise as his wife Jennifer pinned on his newly acquired Sergeant’s badge during a ceremony on Friday, Aug. 19. Wise, who joined the department in January 1997, has worked on foot and bike patrol, district patrol and in the undercover unit. He has also served as a Field Training Officer and an instructor. A year and a half ago he was assigned the position of Training Officer, teaching everything from report writing to defensive tactics, firearms and weapons retention. He has served as the Park Police Division’s primary firearms instructor for three years. Before joining the Park Police eight years ago, Wise worked with the Bexar County Sheriffs Office Warrants Division. He is currently working toward a degree in criminal Justice. He and his wife have two daughters, Carly, 11, and Casey, 6. Congratulations Sgt. Wise!

Park Police winners Park Police snag top honors in Texas Games

Park Police officers recently claimed top honors during the Texas Police Athletic Games, winning five medals including two gold, two silver, and one bronze. The competition, held last month here in San Antonio, brings together hundreds of law enforcement officers from around the state to compete in more than 50 events such as shooting, karate, softball, basketball, football, paintball, cycling, darts, K-9, and golf.

Sgt. Joe Martinez was the Park Police Division's shining star, capturing four medals in the police pistol combat, semi-automatic and revolver categories; a silver medal for tactical pistol and a bronze medal for police pistol combat.

Patrolman Armando Martinez demonstrated impressive karate skills when he won a silver medal in the sparring event.

Patrolman Joe Narro took part in the softball competition, and Patrolman Robert Diaz joined Captain Raymond Castro and Lt. Raul Crisantez in the golf competition.

Captain Castro proved his shooting skills were up to par when he captured the "closest to the pin" award on the 17th hole at La Cantera Palmer Golf Course.
