Play Zone Community Center Summer Recreation Program

Registration began March 1 community centers and will continue until all slots are full. Go to the community center of your choice to register your child between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 2 to 7 p.m. on Friday or from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
Fee: A sliding fee schedule has been adopted for both Kid Quest and Play Zone. See information below for the Requirements for Income Verification.

Magician shows girl ribbon trickAn exciting summer recreation program offered for youth ages 6 - 14 at 25 community centers located throughout the city. Youth participate in arts and crafts, sports and games Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Free lunch and snack are provided. After 5:30 p.m., the centers are open to participants of all ages.

You do not have to complete an income verification form to register for the Play Zone Summer Program, you may pay the full program fee on-site at the registration. If you presume your family will qualify for a reduced fee, an Income Verification Form must be completed during the registration process.

Requirements for Registration are the following:

• Parent/Guardian must be present
• Original Birth Certificate of participant
To obtain an original birth certificate, visit the Vital Statistics Department at 719 S. Santa Rosa, 78204, (210) 207-8754.
• Original & Copy of Guardianship/Power of Attorney Documents (notarized)
• If applicable, the approved Income Verification Form.
• Cash or Money Order; made payable to: City of San Antonio

The Parks and Recreation Department operates a Summer Nutrition Program at more than 75 sites each summer. Food is served at Kid Quest sites, Play Zone and other agencies throughout the summer program. High quality meals similar to those served during the school year by the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs are offered free for youngsters ages 18 and under at the pre-approved sites. Meals are usually served around 11:30 a.m. and snacks at 3 p.m. Children do not have to be registered at the site in order to participate in the Food Program. Call for the site in your neighborhood.

Teen Connection Flier

Teens ages 13 to 18 can stay physically active and involved at one of the Teen Connection program sites located at middle and high schools around the City. This program offers a safe, supervised free open gym program. The recreation-themed curriculum includes active games and sports. Monday through Friday during the summer program. Confirmed sites for 2008 include Truman Middle School and Wrenn High School in Edgewood ISD; Edison High School in SAISD and Ed White Middle School in NEISD.
