Variety of new classes now offered at community centers

Interested in getting fit? De-stressing? Learning new things? Having fun? Then check out these great classes offered by instructors at several Parks and Recreation Department community centers:

Kenpo Karate for both Youth and Adult

Join Instructor Mr. Garcia every Tuesday and thursday at Garza Community Center, 1450 Mira Vista. Youth classes are frm 4:45 to 6 p.m. and Audlt classes are 6 to 7:15 p.m. The montlhy fee is $45. Release stress, enhance cordinataion, increase cardio and improve self discipline.

Classes are offered at Cuellar Community Center, on Monday and Friday. The Monday schedule for yuth is 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. and adults from 5:45 to 7 p.m. on Mondays. On Fridays, it's yuoth from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and adults from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The fee is also $5 and a family plan is available.

Fitness Triple threat:
Three different levels of intensity are offered in this series of fitness classes that can be taken independently of each other. they include Hi-Low Fitness, Step Aerobics Fitness, and Boot Camp Fitness. All three are offered at Cuellar Community Center, 5626 San Fernando. The cost of each class is $15.

Hi-Low Fitness is offered Tuesdays from 5:45 to 7 p.m. Step Aerobics is offered Thursdays from 5:45 to 7 p.m. boot Camp Fitness is available on the first and third Wednesdays of each month, also from 5:45 to 7 p.m. Call 436-0908 after 2 p.m. for more information.

Karate Classes
KarateKosho Karate Sensei Leo Holguin will teach the art of Karate-Do at Cuellar Community Center, 5626 San Fernando, on Monday's and Wednesdays from 7 to 8 p.m. The classes are open to children and adults ages 6 and up. The cost is $35 a month. For more information, call 430-65l83 after 2 p.m.

Self Defense Class
Offered by the Universal Martial Arts Association, this class focuses on Karate, Taekwondo and Hapkido. Classes are open to people 15 years old and up. Classes are offered Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Lou Hamilton Community Center, 10700 Nacogdoches Road. For more information, call 654-7749.

Chess
Bode – Certified chess instructor Elven Chase offers the art of chess at Bode Community Center,900 Rigsby, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Cost: $30 per month. Elven also teaches all the right moves at Copernicus on Mondays and Fridays from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Cost: $30 per month.

Take that time to take care of you. Try jazzercise with instructor Roni Starch. Get fit Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. and Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Garza Community Center, 5627 Mira Vista.
