Parks & Recreation Department Park History 10239 Ingram Road Patrolman John Randolph Wheeler Park officially opened to the public on Saturday, August 16, 2008. The 3.5 acres of land used for the park was donated to the City of San Antonio in 2006. The first phase of construction consisted of walking trail, benches, picnic units and tree plantings funded through the Unified Development Code in the amount of $78,479.
A veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force for 11 years, he was shot and wounded in the line of duty while responding to a robbery call. He was a Purple Heart recipient for valor in the line of duty.
