DEATH OF LOUIS GROBE
Date of Death : 03/22/1930
Age : 26
Cause of Death : Traffic Accident (Motorcycle).

Patrolman Grobe was on his motorcycle when he
observed a traffic violation. He was in pursuit of the
violator when at Romana Plaza and Soledad Street he
collided, head-on, with an on-coming vehicle and
was killed.
Patrolman Grobe was 26 years of age at the time of
his death, and had served 6 months on the Department. |

DEATH OF THEODORE BOYNTON
Date of Death : 07/29/1930
Age : 35
Cause of Death : Shot during a robbery.

Patrolman Boynton, though not on duty, was riding
to town on a Culebra Ave. bus, when a bandit boarded the
bus and drew a gun on the driver. Boynton scuffled with the
bandid and both fell out the bus door, stunning Boynton
on the head. The bandit then shot Boynton and fled.
Boynton died the following Tuesday at Santa Rosa
Infirmary. He was 35 years old and had served 3 years on
the Department. |

DEATH OF RALEIGH TAYLOR
Date of Death : 12/25/1930
Age : 28
Cause of Death : Traffic Accident (Motorcycle).

Patrolman Taylor was operating a police
motorcycle when he was involved in a major accident
sustaining injuries causing his death. Patrolman
Taylor was 28 years old
and had served one year on the Department. |
1931
DEATH OF PETER SCRIVANO
Date of Death : 05/28/1931
Age : 38
Cause of Death : Shot during a traffic stop.

Patrolman Scrivano was investigating a traffic
accident on Produce Row at Pecos Street, when one of the
drivers involved in the collosion drew a pistol and
shot the policeman. Before he died, Scrivano managed to draw his service
revolver and wounded his assailant, who died the
next week. Patrolman Scrivano was 38 years old
and had served 3 years on the Department. |
1933
DEATH OF HENRY PERROW
Date of Death : 12/11/1933
Age : 56
Cause of Death : Shot by a Dillinger gang member.

Detective Perrow was pursuing a member of the
Dillinger Gang, and cornered the fugitive in an
alley off the 400 block of East Commerce. During the
gunbattle that ensued, Perrow was wounded and died.
Detective Perrow was 56 years old
and had served 15 years on the Department. |
1936
DEATH OF JOHN STOWE
Date of Death : 12/03/1936
Age : 57
Cause of Death : Shot disarming a bar patron.

Patrolman Stowe was in a bar in the 400 block
of East Commerce, when the bartender, recognizing Stowe to
be a policeman, informed him that a male patron in
the bar was armed. Stowe attempted to disarm and arrest the
subject, but was himself shot and killed in the
process. Patrolman Stowe was 57 years old
and had served 26 years on the Department. |
1937
DEATH OF AGNAL EDWARDS
Date of Death : 01/16/1937
Age : 33
Cause of Death : Shot pursuing robbers.

Patrolman Edwards was on his motorcycle when
he spotted and pursued a vehicle wanted as having been involved
in a holdup. After Edwards stopped the wanted vehicle
in the 400 block of Jones Ave, one of the "hi-jacking"
suspects fired from the vehicle, hitting and killing
Patrolman Edwards. Edwards was 33 years old
and had served 12 years on the Department. |
1938
DEATH OF EARL KANNING
Date of Death : 12/24/1938
Age : 31
Cause of Death : Traffic Accident (Motorcycle).

|
Patrolman Kanning suffered severe head
injuries when his police motorcycle skidded on wet
pavement at South St. Mary's and Perida on December
23, 1938. He died on Christmas Eve, 1938.
Patrolman Kanning was 31 years old
and had served 2 years on the Department. |
