VIP ASSIGNMENTS
|
WARRANT DRIVE ENFORCER
MISSION STATEMENT
Volunteers research Class C Misdemeanor warrants (Municipal Court
warrants, usually related to traffic violations), and conduct
courtesy calls to citizens to remind them to
pay before officer enforcement.
GOAL: Prevent the use of officer enforcement through courtesy
calls without arrest at home or business.
OBJECTIVE: Maintain a 60% response rate.

CobRA-T SURVEILLANCE
MISSION STATEMENT
Volunteers are trained to conduct surveillance at specific
locations to prevent auto thefts, vehicle burglaries, and to
provide additional eyes and ears for suspect apprehension.
GOAL: Eliminate auto thefts and vehicle burglaries by conducting
effective and efficient surveillance.
OBJECTIVE: Maintain a 95% conviction rate for all apprehensions.

DISASTER PREPAREDNESS
Homeland Security
MISSION STATEMENT
Volunteers highly trained and committed to creating a safe
and healthy environment during a disaster through education and
public awareness.
GOAL:Prepare communities through public education and awareness on
how to effectively and efficiently respond to emergencies and
disasters, to calm and assist the public to return to normal
conditions.
OBJECTIVE: Establish Community Emergency Response Teams and
Awareness Training.

SPECIAL PROJECTS
MISSION STATEMENT
Volunteers who work full-time or have limited free time can opt to
do volunteer work at special project events, such as non-criminal
fingerprinting events, role-playing for Training Academy cadet
scenarios, or participate in a variety of community
service projects.
GOAL: Establish a cadre of highly motivated and skilled volunteers for
every scenario/event.
OBJECTIVE: Maintain a 95% response rate.

UNIT VOLUNTEER
MISSION STATEMENT
Volunteers assist the unit with general office duties to
include basic filing, light typing, and answering
telephones.
GOAL: Ensure the office has adequate administrative support.
OBJECTIVE: Maintain one person in office 90% during the week.

FINGERPRINTING
MISSION STATEMENT
Volunteers perform fingerprinting for children at the
City Showcases and upon request from other departments
and community organizations.
GOAL: Provide fingerprinting support as requested.
OBJECTIVE: Child safety.

PUBLIC SAFETY TEAM
MISSION STATEMENT
Volunteers undergo a separate application and interview process.
Upon acceptance, volunteers are trained to issue Handicap Parking
citations to the public and perform other non-hazardous duties
for the department.
GOAL: Educate the public on the purpose of Handicap parking,
regardless of citation.
OBJECTIVE: Reduce citations by 25%.

INTERNSHIP
MISSION STATEMENT
Available to college and university students looking to
gain insight and experience within the criminal justice
system. In addition, internships are considered job experience
for resumes, and include certification.
GOAL: Maintain a constant enrollment.
OBJECTIVE: Recruit individuals.

APPLYING TO VIP
To apply to become a V.I.P. you may download
an Application Form (PDF Format) from the SAPD Web Forms
Page, or pick up an Application Form from the V.I.P. office
on San Saba. Successful applicants will be notified by
the V.I.P. Program Coordinator and invited to an Orientation
Training Session. For V.I.P.s interested in specialized
activities, such as CObRA T or Warrant Drives, additional
training will be provided.
