MAJOR CRIMES SECTION

The SAPD Major Crimes Section is commanded by Captain Jimmy Reyes, who maintains administrative duties for the Units and Details which are responsible for all Major Crime and Offenses Against Persons Investigations.

The Crimes Section is divided into 6 Units : The Homicide Unit includes Homicide, Assault and Traffic investigations; the Sex Crimes Unit includes both a Sex Crimes and a Family Violence Detail; the Night Detectives Unit is responsible for investigations between 7 pm and 5 am; the Youth Crimes Unit includes the Missing Persons Detail and Youth Crimes Detail; the Financial Crimes Unit includes Forgery and Fraud investigations; and the Evidence Unit is responsible for collecting all crime scene evidence.

Anyone having information about criminal offenses within the jurisdiction of the San Antonio Police Department, can communicate with the Police Department by several means. The Homicide phone number is 210-207-7635. The Office is open 7 days a week, from 07:30am to 6:00pm. E-mail should be forwarded to homicide@sanantonio.gov. After 7:00pm until 5:00am, the Night Utility Detectives come on duty, and they will answer at this same phone number. Crime Stoppers is also prepared to accept information at 210-224-STOP anytime. We always welcome any comments, suggestions, and/or information you can provide.

** The Robbery Unit was decentralized during Spring, 2000. Robbery detectives have been assigned to each of the six SAPD Substations, to provide better service to the community. Please go to the PATROL DIVISION page to access the substations.
