The Patrol Division is divided into PATROL NORTH, commanded by Deputy Chief Jeff Humphrey, and PATROL SOUTH, commanded by Deputy Chief Ray Torres. Patrol is the largest of the four SAPD divisions, with more than 1,100 of the total 2,085 SAPD sworn officers. Deputy Chief Humphrey is in charge of North, Prue (NW) and East Substations, and Deputy Chief Torres is in charge of West, South and Central Substation, and the Downtown Foot and Bicycle Patrol. Captain Andersen is the Night Patrol Commander.

police car Police officers at each substation are assigned to patrol districts within the substation area and these uniformed officers, in their marked patrol cars, are the first responders when citizens "call the police."

SAPD's VICTIMS' ADVOCACY PROGRAM, including the CRT (Crisis Response Teams) and the F.A.C.T. Program (Family Assistance Crisis Teams) and Project E.A.S.E. (for hearing impaired persons) are also part of the Patrol Division.
