No Kill Cats Press Release

MEOW! Animal Care Services hits 90% live release for cats
Success built on increased spay/neuter, community cat programs and feline placement

Talk about a “purrfect” achievement! Animal Care Services is thrilled to announce the shelter has attained a 90% plus live release rate for cats and kittens. With a 92% average feline placement rate since March, ACS has reached the nationally accepted No Kill goal for cats. Live Release for dogs is moving towards No Kill as well with an average placement rate of 82% in the last two months. The success of the ACS placement program is built on a combination of factors including the shelter’s positive partnerships in the rescue community, the continued availability of affordable spay/neuter services and innovative programs like the Comprehensive Neighborhood Sweeps Initiative and collaborations with the Humane Society of United States, ASPCA, Best Friends Animal Society, PetSmart Charities and Petco. As summer nears, ACS will unveil a comprehensive community campaign aimed at encouraging both shelter adoptions and responsible pet ownership through engagement and education.
