In January 2020, the Alameda Theater Conservancy (ATC) began the initial phase of construction work to restore the historic Alameda Theater. Once complete in 2021, the historic Alameda Theater will serve as a multi-media live performing arts and film center that will feature the American-Latino multicultural story with diverse programming. Alameda theater community meeting presentations
The City of San Antonio, in partnership with Bexar County, Texas Public Radio (TPR) and La Familia Cortez, invited the public to attend community meetings on June 27, 2017 and August 15, 2017 to discuss the conceptual plan and programming ideas for the historic Alameda Theater.
The public is encouraged to share stories about the Alameda, along with photographs and other memorabilia. Stories will be recorded and items will be scanned and incorporated into a future exhibit celebrating the history of the Alameda. Read more about sharing your story.
The City has worked closely with stakeholders and the neighborhood for nearly two years to achieve a safe, accessible solution for Plaza Guadalupe. At multiple public meetings, we heard broad agreement that security is needed in the plaza and public access is critical. What we heard from everyone is a desire for an inviting and attractive space that is open to all.
La Ciudad de San Antonio ha trabajado en estrecha colaboración con las partes interesadas y el vecindario durante casi dos años para lograr una solución segura y accesible para la Plaza Guadalupe. The City of San Antonio held several public meetings in 2018 and 2019 to provide residents the opportunity to offer feedback on the future plans for Plaza Guadalupe.
Plaza Guadalupe is open daily from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., and we want to invite you and your families to return to the plaza to enjoy the community space.
