SAN ANTONIO (Aug. 20, 2018) – The Office of the City Clerk, Municipal Archives, and Passports and Records Facility invites the public to take advantage of the upcoming Passport and Vital Records Day by applying for passports now to avoid last minute holiday travel delays. Passport/Vital Records Day will be held Saturday, August 25, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 719 S. Santa Rosa, San Antonio, TX 78204.
In order to apply for a U.S. Passport, all applicants must submit proof of U.S. Citizenship. “For added customer convenience, the Office of the City Clerk Vital Records Division will be available to issue birth certificates to qualified customers,” said Leticia Vacek, City Clerk. The Vital Records Division is also located at 719 S. Santa Rosa and offers free parking for customers.
These special openings make the passport process easier for parents, as both parents must be present to obtain passports for children younger than 16 years of age. This special opening is also geared towards individuals who are not able to visit offices during normal operating hours due to work, school, or other time constraints.
Appointments for passport applications are available but not necessary due to an anticipated increase in demand for services. Walk-ins are welcome. To save time, passport applications can be completed in advance online at www.travel.state.gov.
Passports for those ages 16 and older cost $110 and are valid for 10 years. Passports for minors under the age of 16 are valid for 5 years and cost $80. Fees must be paid by check or money order and made payable to the U.S. Department of State. A separate processing fee of $35 is added for payments of cash, credit/debit card, or check/money order made payable to the City of San Antonio. As an added convenience, passport photos will be available for an additional fee.
