SAN ANTONIO (Feb.14, 2020) — San Antonio City Clerk Leticia Vacek will retire on March 6, 2020 after serving the City of San Antonio as its City Clerk for the last 16 years. Leticia holds an Associate’s from South Texas College, Bachelor and Master’s Degrees from the University of the Incarnate Word. She was appointed by Mayor Ed Garza and the City Council in June of 2004. Since her appointment she has served 5 Mayors, oversaw Elections for 9 Council Terms, and served 101 City Councilmembers.
“Leticia Vacek has been an outstanding leader as the City Clerk,” said Mayor Ron Nirenberg “She is an innovator who has seamlessly kept the Office of the City Clerk up to date in rapidly changing times. I wish her the best.”
During her tenure with San Antonio, Vacek attended 1,095 City Council Meetings and signed more than 17,000 official sets of minutes, ordinances and resolutions. She has been responsible for the management of the department’s $9.2 million operating and revenue budget during election years, which includes the Vital Records Division, Passport Division, Archives Division, Records Management Division and Legislative Division.
Her direction of the City’s Passport Acceptance Facility has generated more than $5 million in revenue to the City’s General Fund, which will continue at a revenue rate of $1 million each year.
“I am blessed to be able to retire from the seventh largest city in our nation and will always be grateful for the support from all Mayors and Council I have served,” said City Clerk Leticia Vacek.
