City Clerk to present Charter petition results May 17

SAN ANTONIO (May 11, 2018) — Today, the City of San Antonio posted a notice that City Clerk Leticia Vacek will report on the results of the verification process for three petitions submitted by the fire union to the Clerk’s Office seeking changes to the City Charter. The report will be shared during the Thursday, May 17 regular meeting of the City Council.


The City Clerk worked with the Bexar County Elections Department using their software to verify the signatures. The City anticipates the City Clerk will certify that each of the three petitions has the minimum 20,000 valid signatures required under State law. The results each petition will be presented on Thursday.


“This is just another step in the process,” Vacek said. “I want to thank my staff for their hard work and diligence and Bexar County staff for their equipment and assistance during this process.”


The City Council has until Monday, Aug. 20 to place measures on the November 2018 ballot.
