The Office of the City Clerk Vital Records Division, in partnership with the San Antonio Public Library and Metro Health, will offer birth records for purchase at the Las Palmas Branch Library, 515 Castroville Rd. beginning Monday, Nov. 4, 2013. The certificates sold at this location will be limited to births occurring from 2005 to the present for individuals born in San Antonio. This is in addition to the three branch libraries currently selling birth certificates: Great Northwest Branch Library, 9050 Wellwood St.; Mission Branch Library, 3134 Roosevelt Ave.; and Thousand Oaks Branch Library, 4618 Thousand Oaks Dr. Birth records are sold Monday through Friday from the time each branch opens, which varies with day of the week and location, until 5 p.m. Immunization records are also available for purchase at these branch library locations.
Eligible applicants for birth records include: self, mother, father, brother, sister, children, spouse, grandparents, step-parents or siblings, legal guardian or representative. All applicants must have a valid photo ID and be able to prove the relationship. The cost for birth certificates is $23 each.
The Office of the City Clerk Vital Records Main Office will continue to serve the citizens of San Antonio by maintaining records of births, deaths, and fetal deaths that occur in the County of Bexar. Birth records are available from 1897, death records from 1873, and fetal death records from 1952. The cost for death certificates is $21 for the first copy and $4 for each additional copy of the same record purchased at the same time.
The Main Office is open Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. - 5 p.m. and is located at 719 S. Santa Rosa, next to Cafécollege. Free parking is available.
