This week District 7 City Councilman Cris Medina announced that members of the military in San Antonio have access to all San Antonio libraries. Medina, chair of the Intergovernmental Relations Committee, described the committee’s dedication to providing resources for San Antonio’s active military, veterans and their families, especially as federal budget cuts threaten to decrease services on military bases.
"The military has been a proud part of San Antonio since its founding. And, even if they reside on a military base, all members of the military have access to our libraries and all library resources," Councilman Medina said.
In order to immediately gain access to San Antonio libraries, members of the military need only to visit a San Antonio Public Library branch to obtain a library card.
"As a member of the military, I know that this program will mean a great deal to our men and women in uniform," Medina concluded. "This is just another small way that the City of San Antonio gives back to the military and is a reminder that we are, and will forever be, Military City USA."
