“We listened to you,” said Councilman Joseph Krier of the two previous Public Meetings held regarding the East Evans Branch Library, during the latest public update that he co-hosted with Ramiro Salazar, Director of the San Antonio Public Library, on March 24, 2014.
The last Public Meeting was held on Nov. 20, 2013, during which the City and the Library noted several areas the community wanted to improve about the architect’s design. Last night’s meeting was a follow-up meeting at which David Alvidrez of Alvidrez Architecture, Inc. presented an update on the new design for the Library (see attached). This design was chosen after thoughtful consideration and public input for the Bond Project as outlined by Carol Warkoczecki, City Architect with Transportation and Capital Improvements. Some of the improvements made after being proposed at the November meeting include color schemes, additional seating in the courtyard and a proposed future playground in the rear of the Library. The plan is to open the Library, which is part of the 2012-2017 Bond, in September of 2015.
Councilman Krier ended the question and answer session of the meeting by thanking attendees for their participation and feedback, and for taking pride in their community by staying informed and involved.
