District 9 City Councilman Joe Krier will not be a candidate for consideration as the Interim Mayor.
“Having just been elected on May 10, I have made a commitment to the residents of District 9 to serve out the remainder of former Councilwoman Elisa Chan's term,” Krier said.
Krier’s City Council term expires in May 2015. "Between now and then, I intend to work hard to meet the needs of District 9. Specifically, from now until mid-September, I am working on a basic services budget that provides for the best police and fire we can afford, and also supports improved streets and drainage, parks and libraries,” Councilman Krier continued.
Krier’s announcement comes in before the July 16 deadline to submit a letter of intent for consideration as interim Mayor.
“There are several members of Council who want to be considered and I'm confident we will choose one who will do a good job of leading our City until the election next May," Krier concluded.
Councilman Krier serves as a member of the Council's Economic Development, Quality of Life and Education Committees. He also serves on the Committee of Six, which oversees workforce development efforts in the region.
