Due to the inclement weather and forecast, The Amazing Preservation Race scheduled for Friday, May 11, has been rescheduled for Friday, June 8, 2012. The Office of Historic Preservation is teaming up with several downtown partners to host this event for people who love adventure and history. This event has it all: an architectural scavenger hunt, trivia questions, urban challenges, and an after party. Teams of four adventurous adults who want to put their street smarts and trivia skills to the test will hit the streets of San Antonio for an adventure like no other. The winning team will win a San Antonio "staycation" package. Each team will receive a passport with clues leading them to six downtown locations where they will need to perform an activity in order to receive their next clue. Teams will have two hours to complete the race. There will be urban challenges to complete along the way, such as creating a human pyramid with tourists. The race begins and ends in Maverick Plaza in La Villita. Participants receive a race t-shirt and a ticket for the post-race fiesta! Costumes are encouraged and based on last year's entries into the best costume category, this year should be nothing if not entertaining.
