District 4 Councilman Rey Saldaña and Generations Federal Credit Union will host the Suit Up For Success event, this Friday, Aug. 24, 2012 from 9 - 10 a.m. at 7503 Yarrow Blvd. Councilman Saldaña and Generations have partnered to raise money for school supplies and clothing for District 4 children in need.
"Education is incredibly important and many children in District 4 lack the basic supplies to start a new school year," said Councilman Saldaña. "By ensuring that young students are prepared for the first day of school, we foster happy children that are ready to succeed in the classroom and in life."
The Suit Up For Success Event will provide 57 elementary-age children with clothing, shoes and backpacks. Generations matched the amount of money raised by its employees and members for the event.
"It is critical for students to have the necessary tools if they are going to succeed, and as adults we can sometimes lose sight of the fact that a solid foundation begins with the basics, such as uniforms, notebooks, even pencils and paper," said Tim F. Haegelin, president and CEO of Generations Federal Credit Union. "It's important for the community to step up and help these children who will be leaders within our communities. When we help the next generation, we help our future."
