The community is invited to join the City of San Antonio staff on Friday, Aug. 16, 2013 at the Alamodome from 11:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. for the 2013 City of San Antonio Charitable Campaign Kick-Off Luncheon. The event will feature the City of San Antonio’s Executive Team serving the meal to City employees and guests.“The City of San Antonio Charitable Campaign makes a big difference in the community,” said City Manager Sheryl Sculley. “By reaching out to those in need, we enrich everyone’s lives. This is the 3rd annual luncheon hosted to raise funds for United Way agencies. We encourage everyone to ‘Catch the Spirit’ and contribute what they can.”Various City departments are also hosting events and activities this year for the Charitable Campaign.The lunch plate costs only $10 and includes: pasta and meatballs, salad, breadstick, your choice of water/tea, and a cookie.Proceeds from the Luncheon will benefit the 2013 City of San Antonio United Way Charitable Campaign.Tickets are now on sale and available at cityofsanantonio-kickofflunch.eventbrite.com. Payment can be made by credit card online. Free parking is available in Alamodome Lot A.In 2012, the City raised more than $1 million for the Charitable Campaign overall. According to the Nonprofit Times, last year San Antonio ranked as number one in best performing cities in America for United Way giving. City employees exemplify this top ranking with the support of the San Antonio community.
