Interim Assistant to City Council
Emily McGinn was appointed Interim Assistant to the City Council in August 2019. In this position, she provides management support to the Mayor and City Council. She is responsible for the departmental budget as well as the oversight of City Council Offices and supervision of thirteen support staff. She also serves as the liaison to the City Manager’s Office and City Staff in meeting the goals of the City Council.
Prior to her appointment, Ms. McGinn served as Executive Assistant in the Office of the City Council. In that role, she was responsible for the daily operations of the department including administrative and personnel support, project management, and accounts payable.
Upon joining the City organization in 2015, Ms. McGinn served in the Financial Management and Fiscal Divisions of the Finance Department. In this capacity, she worked on the City’s debt issuances, continuing financial disclosure, and City’s Purchasing Card Program. Prior to joining the City, she worked in human resource management and sales for 10 years.
Ms. McGinn anticipates finishing her Master of Public Administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio in the spring of 2020.
