New amenities were added to Tom Slick Park and were celebrated during the ribbon-cutting ceremony on December 7, 2011. Among additional
improvements made to the overall park, the city’s newest dog park was opened. The dog park features two separate dog parks with pet showers,
trash receptacles, drinking fountains for pets and people, and 5-foot-high metal fence with gates for both dog parks In addition, a new children’s
play area and equipment, gazebo with seating area, retainer wall, irrigation, park benches, an 8-foot-wide concrete sidewalk, bike rack and kiosks,
and a stainless-steel art component called “Nessy” located in the pond were added to the park. The Tom Slick Park project was completed for
$437,000, and was part of the 2007-2012 Bond Program.
