Councilman Shaw responds to horrific mass shooting in Sutherland Springs

CONTACT: Celeste Alana Brown

SAN ANTONIO (Nov. 5, 2017) — “Just a month after the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history in Las Vegas and less than 24 hours after a 3 year old was shot and killed in a road rage incident in District 4, we received the horrific news of a mass shooting close to home in Sutherland Springs, Texas. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.

We also need to pray that our elected officials in the Federal government gain the courage to work towards common sense gun legislation. Something has to change. Calling for action is not insensitive, but rather it is imperative to truly finding a way to ensure this doesn’t keep happening. We cannot afford to keep losing children, parents, and neighbors to acts of domestic terrorism. Our hearts are truly hurting for our neighbors in Sutherland Springs today.”
