SAN ANTONIO (May 6, 2020) – The City of San Antonio is calling on the business community to donate new cloth masks, scarves, bandanas, and handkerchiefs that will be donated to those most in need.
The Mayor and City Council have extended the San Antonio Public Health Emergency Declaration to May 19. This extension includes the requirement that all people 10 years or older must continue to wear a cloth face covering over their nose and mouth when in a public place.
Face coverings can include new cloth masks, scarves, bandanas, or a handkerchief. The City has a goal of obtaining 50,000 new cloth face coverings from the business community.
Donations may be dropped off Friday, May 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at:
- TriPoint, 3233 N. St. Mary’s St., 78212
- Claude W. Black Community Center, 2805 E. Commerce, 78203
The new face coverings will be distributed to community members in marginalized communities next week at five of the senior centers operated by the City of San Antonio Department of Human Services, Senior Services Division.
