SAN ANTONIO (December 23, 2020) — Today, Councilwoman Rebecca Viagran and District 3 team delivered holiday treats to Our Metro Health Department workers at the Alamodome in recognition of their hard work. 170 employees who are a part of the COVID-19 response team enjoyed pan dulce and tamales for breakfast from local businesses. “Throughout this pandemic, we have witnessed our community come together and provide support to our frontline workers. Our City’s COVID-19 response team has worked long rigorous hours and for that, we are grateful. They are an integral part of our local emergency response to the COVID-19 pandemic and their sacrifices have not gone unnoticed,” stated Councilwoman Viagran. The Alamodome has been home to hundreds of case investigators, working to limit the spread of COVID-19 in Bexar County. Investigators and contract tracers collect information from individuals and take that information to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Many of these employees were furloughed near the start of the pandemic and were reassigned to perform this critical work as a part of our city’s local response efforts.
