San Antonio residents will enjoy more opportunities to stay active and fit when the City’s Parks and Recreation Department’s 24 outdoor pools open for the summer swim season on June 15. Admission to all 24 outdoor pools is free. Hours of operation at 19 outdoor pools are 1 – 7 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday. Pools will be closed on Monday.
Five pools will operate Tuesday through Sunday from 2 – 8 p.m. to provide more time in the evening for working families to swim and stay active.
The pools staying open until 8 p.m. are Fairchild, 1214 E. Crockett; Kennedy, 3299 S.W. 28th St.; San Pedro Springs, 2200 N. Flores; Spring Time, 6571 Spring Time and Sunset Hills, 103 Chesswood.
Lap swimming for those who want to get in a low impact aerobic workout is currently offered 7:30 – 9:30 a.m., Tuesday through Thursday, at the Department’s regional pools: Heritage, 1423 Ellison Dr.; Lady Bird Johnson, 10700 Nacogdoches; South Side Lions, 3100 Hiawatha; and Woodlawn, 221 Alexander Ave.
The department’s Aquatics Section offers water aerobics and “Learn to Swim” lessons for a nominal fee. Register at a participating pools beginning June 15. For more information call (210) 207-3000 or visit the Parks and Recreation website.
