The Parks and Recreation Department will offer a free lunch and afternoon snack to thousands of San Antonio youngsters at approximately 60 sites this summer as part of its Summer Nutrition Program. The program is offered to youth 18 and under at the Parks and Recreation Department’s 25 community centers and 13 school sites (where children are not being fed by their school district lunch program) participating in the City’s Summer Youth Program.
Both programs will be offered June 17 through Aug. 9. Meals also will be served at eight Parks and Recreation Department swimming pools and at approximately 12 additional sites sponsored by other organizations.
Lunch is served at approximately 11:30 a.m. and snacks are served at 3 p.m. daily. The sites are pre-qualified so there is no registration or qualifying requirement. Participants are invited to visit the nearest location for a free meal. Meals are not available for children ages birth to 12 months.
