Wednesday, January 13, 2021     First day to Apply
Friday, January 15, 2021  5 pm - January Semi-Annual Campaign and Expenditure Report Due. 
Friday, February 12, 2021 5 pm - Last day to Apply
 Monday, January 18, 2021 Martin Luther King Holiday.  County and Municipal Offices Closed. 
Saturday, May 1, 2021 ELECTION DAY.  7 AM TO 7 PM

  

NEW REQUIREMENTS

CANDIDATE RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS

As per Ordinance 2017-11-30-0920, when submitting an Application for a Place on the Ballot, all City Council Candidates are required to submit TWO of the following supplemental documents which verify residency: 

  1. Valid Bexar County Voter Registration Certificate;
  2. Original or copy of current utility bill; 
  3. Original or copy of most recent personal bank statement;
  4. Original or copy of most recent government check; 
  5. Original or copy of most recent paycheck; or 
  6. Original or copy of most recent government document with name and address.
MUNICIPAL CAMPAIGN FINANCE CODE CHANGES

Effective June 21, 2018, the Occupation and Employer is required to be denoted for contributions received.  In addition to this change, Quarterly Reports will be required to be submitted starting in October 2019.  Please see the revised Municipal Campaign Finance Code for additional information.

Elections - Candidate Qualifications for City Council

(*) - If your area was annexed into the City, you MUST have lived at your residence six months prior to annexation.

If you satisfy the above requirements, you may submit an application during the designated filing period. Applications must be submitted to the Office of the City Clerk along with the Filing Fee of $100 or Petition Signatures and required Supplemental Residency Documentation.
