The Commission is composed of three regular members and three alternate members appointed by the City Council for two-year terms. Member shall be a qualified elector of the City. Members are compensated for their services as determined in advance by the City Council.
The Commission hears appeals regarding municipal employee suspensions, reductions or removals, and investigates personnel administration of the City as needed.
Meetings are held twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday at 8:30 AM at 111 Soledad. Meeting duration varies from one hour to eight hours depending on agenda.
The Commission is comprised of three (3) members appointed by the City Manager and ratified by the City Council for three-year staggered terms. Members shall reside in the City of San Antonio; shall be over the age of 25 and not have held any public office within the preceding three (3) years. Commissioners shall receive compensation of $20.00 per meeting.
The Commission has the power of interpretation of Fire and Police Civil Service Rules. Such rules and regulations prescribe what constitutes cause for removal or suspension of Firefighters and Police Officers. Meetings are held the second Monday of each month at
9:00 a.m. at 111 Soledad, Human Resources Department. Meeting duration is usually one to two hours depending on the agenda. Special meetings may be called.
