SAN ANTONIO (August 23, 2018) – SA Climate Ready, an initiative led by the City of San Antonio, CPS Energy, the University of Texas at San Antonio and Navigant, is proud to announce the launch of a new-and-improved website featuring the latest resources available to the community. As SA Climate ready continues to develop a Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP) that includes strategies for reducing San Antonio’s greenhouse gas emissions and adapting the city to the effects of climate change, community members can now follow along with progress, access customized toolkits for climate-smart choices and more.
The new website also provides SA Climate Ready’s mission and project approach, which includes hundreds of residents taking part in sharing their visions and priorities for a climate-ready San Antonio. On the Progress page, users can view a timeline of work beginning in August 2016 when the San Antonio City Council adopted the SA Tomorrow Sustainability Plan, now called SA Climate Ready. In addition, the document library provides downloadable files that include research, stakeholder input summaries and more. The final Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory can also be found in the document library. Public comments received during the month of July helped inform this baseline inventory that will be used to develop reduction targets for the CAAP.
The website introduces a range of new helpful resources and tools, giving visitors the ability to leave comments, request a speaker, view meeting notes and browse the calendar of events. The Resources page is home to six toolkits that will help community members discover ways they can help make San Antonio climate-ready. Residents, businesses, families, organizations and young leaders have access to “host-a-meeting” toolkits containing tips and resources for making climate-smart and money saving choices.
