SAN ANTONIO (February 13, 2020) – After nearly six years of stalled negotiations, an arbitration panel reached a final award in the matter of the City of San Antonio and the San Antonio Professional Firefighters Association. The following statement was released in response to the collective bargaining agreement:
“I am so thankful that this issue has come to an end, but disappointed that it took unnecessary spending of our residents’ dollars and nearly six years to secure a contract. Frankly, it’s about time.
It is my hope moving forward that a lesson has been learned as we begin the discussions regarding the police contract, which expires next year.”
