SAN ANTONIO (Feb. 21, 2019) — Today marks the last meeting of the City Council with Sheryl Sculley as City Manager. Mayor Ron Nirenberg released the following statement:

“The City of San Antonio is the most professional, efficient and effective municipal organization in the nation due to the management and leadership of Sheryl Sculley. She earned a reputation as the best city manager in the nation.

There is no question that we are a better, more equitable and more prosperous city as a result of Sheryl’s prudent stewardship of city resources. Her lasting legacy will be the most talented executive team and staff of any big city in the United States. Sheryl instilled a new level of professionalism, innovation and productivity in local governance.

Her efficiency and tireless efforts have paid off for the city in many ways, including stellar marks from bond rating agencies and more than $2 billion in infrastructure improvements -- completed on time and under budget.

The city manager position is a tough job requiring difficult decisions on complicated issues. The residents of San Antonio will be forever grateful for Sheryl Sculley’s service. And I thank Sheryl for all she has done for the City of San Antonio.

San Antonio is unequivocally a better place today because of Sheryl’s dedication and hard work.”
