SAN ANTONIO (April 12, 2019) — Delivering his annual State of the City address to business leaders today, Mayor Ron Nirenberg said, “I’m proud to report that San Antonio is stronger than ever.”

“We’re working together on a single mission and that is to create high-paying jobs and the strongest, most equitable economy in the country,” Mayor Nirenberg said, noting that the city’s unemployment rate is below the Texas and national averages. He added that City leaders and local economic development officials are focused on industries of the future, including cybersecurity, information technology, bioscience and healthcare, aerospace and advanced manufacturing.

National credit union Pen Fed, Victory Capital and the Accenture Federal Services expansion, success stories from “Team SA’s” economic development efforts will bring more than 1,400 new jobs to our City.

The City has bolstered fundamentals: public safety, community health, infrastructure, transportation, housing and workforce development which are the foundation of a strong economy and the fuel of the future. There is ongoing work on climate, a multimodal transportation network and affordable housing.

The speech was delivered at a luncheon sponsored by the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber, the Alamo City Black Chamber and the Alamo Asian Chamber.
