Councilwoman Andrews-Sullivan, Human Services bring in partners to feed, care for homeless community

SAN ANTONIO (May 14, 2020) – District 2 Councilwoman Jada Andrews-Sullivan and the City of San Antonio Department of Human Services are teaming up with community partners to feed and provide basic necessities to the homeless community in the midst of COVID-19.
The distribution of food is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, May 15, at the District 2 Field Office, 4351 Rittiman Road, 78218. Joining in this humanitarian effort are Catholic Charities, Meals On Wheels, Spurs Sports and Entertainments, and San Antonio Food Bank.
Catholic Charities will have its mobile showers on site. The Food Bank will provide information and Spurs Give will distribute toiletries.
“We have been blessed with the opportunity to be a blessing to others in this time of need,” the Councilwoman said. “This distribution is a token of our care for our beloved homeless population of District 2. We have some of the greatest partners to assist us in this mission of blessings such as Spurs Give, Meals on Wheels, and the San Antonio Food Bank. Now, is the time to be there for one another and that’s exactly what we will do.”
J. Antonio Fernandez, Catholic Charities President/CEO, said, “The business of Catholic Charities is to provide dignity to our brothers and sisters in need. We are grateful to launch the Mobile Shower Trailer last year and blessed to be able to share it as a community resource, especially during this pandemic.”
Catholic Charities’ Mobile Shower Trailer has two private showers, toilet, sink stalls, and a laundry stall with two washers and two dryers.
