SAN ANTONIO (October 26, 2017) – Visitors can now enjoy a WOW view at the new Southside Lions Park overlook observation deck and their four-legged friends can WOOF happily at the new dog park.
Overlook amenities include an ADA sidewalk, concrete trail and a 14’ diameter viewing platform from where park visitors can take a glimpse of their beautiful city. Furry visitors can enjoy a 12,000 square foot dog park with separated small dog and all dog areas. Additional amenities to the dog park include bench seating, drinking fountain with dog bowl, trash receptacles, pet waste bag dispensers and signage.
“I’m happy to be able to celebrate completion of improvements for the Southside Lions Park,” said Councilwoman Rebecca Viagran. “I feel proud that as your City Council member, I’m able to provide more spaces and improvements that District 3 residents have long waited for and can now enjoy even more with their families and furry friends.”
The project was managed by Transportation & Capital Improvements on behalf of the Parks and Recreation Department. The overlook and dog park projects were designed by RVK Architects. The overlook was constructed by TCL Construction Enterprises and Alpha Building Corporation. The dog park was constructed by Allbrite Constructors of Texas, Inc. The dog park project was funded with $64,000 from the 2012-2017 Bond Program. The overlook project was funded with $145,961 from previously authorized capital funding.
