ABOUT REMEMBER THE RIVER

Remember the River is a comprehensive public education and outreach campaign for the City of San Antonio.  The campaign is developed and coordinated through the department of Transportation & Capital Improvements (TCI) with support from San Antonio Water System (SAWS) and the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT), as well as additional support from City departments, local organizations and community groups.  

All public campaign efforts are conducted in compliance with education/outreach guidelines established under the Phase I Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) storm water discharge permit mandated by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

The primary goals of the campaign are to:

1) Educate, inform and increase awareness among individual residents and commercial groups regarding nonpoint source pollution.

2) Promote practices which help reduce and prevent pollutants from entering the MS4 through storm water runoff.
