Important Media Line Notice

Media Line Notice

The San Antonio Fire Department is committed to providing the media with accurate and up to date information concerning emergency incidents and current events that impact the citizens of our city. Much of that information can be obtained through links contained on the Public Information Office page of our website. Oftentimes, if something is not posted, it means the information is not currently available. Most media outlets have the ability to monitor SAFD radio transmissions to obtain information from the moment of dispatch to the conclusion of an incident. In doing so, you get the information as it is happening.

A media line has been established in our Communications Division but should only be used after all other avenues to obtain the information have been utilized. During normal business hours inquiries should be directed to the Public Information Office.

SAFD PIO (210) 207-8492
Monday through Friday
7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Please note the following concerning use of the Media Line:

  • During the normal business hours, listed above, the media line is automatically transferred to the Public Information Office.
  • After hours and on the weekends the line will be answered by Communications personnel.
  • It being answered will always be secondary to emergency call taking and dispatch responsibilities which means during high volume call times it will NOT be answered.
  • Communications personnel are only permitted to relay basic information.
  • Please do not use the Media Line for routine “beat checks”.
  • Remember: ALL CALLS ARE RECORDED
