The San Antonio Fire Department is pleased to announce that Fire Chief Charles Hood has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF).
The foundation was formed in 1992 to honor those in the fire service who have died in the line of duty. This non-profit organization, through a variety of programs, honors those who have fallen and assists the survivors who must carry on without them.
In a letter from Ernest Mitchell, Fire Administrator of the United States Fire Administration, he states:
“Your experience and knowledge of the American fire service will be a wonderful asset to the Board of Directors.”
“Working together, I know we can achieve an even greater awareness of the fire and life safety issues that will lead to a reduction in firefighter deaths and injuries.”
Chief Hood’s term will span six (6) years and continue through 2019.
“It is a humbling experience for me and I am excited and more than ready to take my 29 years of experience, apply them into my new assignment, and proudly represent all of the metropolitan fire departments across the country,” said Chief Hood.
