SAN ANTONIO (Oct. 4, 2017) – American Airlines announced today the launch of a new daily non-stop flight from San Antonio International Airport (SAT) to Philadelphia’s International Airport (PHL) beginning Feb 15, 2018. This new service provides much-needed capacity to the country’s Northeast region and will give passengers easy access to American’s primary transatlantic gateway.

American Airlines will utilize its 128-seat Airbus A319 aircraft for the new flight which will operate daily, departing SAT at 7:35 a.m. and arriving in PHL at 12:15 p.m. The flight will then return to SAT, departing PHL at 6:35 p.m. and returning to SAT at 9:31 p.m.

“We currently only have one other airline serving the Philadelphia market on a seasonal basis, so this is exciting news that underscores American Airlines’ commitment to the growing demand in our market,” said Russ Handy, Aviation Director for the City of San Antonio.

These decisions are long-term commitments made by airlines as a result of market demand, and SAT has shown a continuous increase in such demand. In addition to the newly announced PHL service, SAT has added 17 new flights from 4 different airlines in just the last 18 months. This all comes after the release of SAT’s August statistics, which indicated the 14th consecutive month of growth and record-breaking passenger volume.

Tickets to Philadelphia are scheduled to go on sale this weekend.
