Military Parking Validations - Specialty and Disabled License Plates


Disabled Veteran License Plates (Issued by any State)

Veterans who have permanently affixed disabled veteran license plates on the vehicles parked at the San Antonio International Airport are granted validated parking for their entire parking stay within the Airport public parking facilities. Disabled veteran license plates issued by the State of Texas or any other U.S. state that indicate on the face of the license plate that the owner of the vehicle is a disabled veteran of the United States will be honored.

Specialty License Plates (Texas Issued Only)

Complimentary parking is extended to those veterans who have certain recognized specialty service plates issued by the State of Texas. The following is a list of those plates that are currently recognized by Texas State Law and the San Antonio City Code as of June 2016.

Special Plate Designation List:

  • Purple Heart
  • Pearl Harbor Survivor
  • Legion of Valor
  • Silver Star
  • Bronze Star w/Valor
  • Distinguished Service Cross
  • Air Medal
  • Former Prisoner of War
  • Congressional Medal of Honor
  • Legion of Merit
  • Bronze Star
  • Meritorious Service Medal
  • Defense Distinguished Service Medal
  • Distinguished Flying Cross
  • WWII Veteran
  • Surviving Spouse LP
  • Silver Star

Fee parking will be honored when the customer presents the following at the parking exit:

  • Military ID card (Active Duty, Retired or Spouse)
  • Vehicle insurance card (or vehicle registration form)
  • Completed Parking Validation Form
  • Validation form is available at the exit booth or you can print the form.

The exemption for payment is granted on the condition that the vehicle is being operated at the time of the charge or for the transportation of the person who is a registered owner of the vehicle.   No refunds after exit will be granted. Vehicles displaying dealer’s temporary tags or any cardboard or paper tags may qualify for a validation provided the plate number contains DV or the vehicle owner can provide sufficient proof that the vehicle has been registered with a special plate that have not yet been received or officially transferred.   

***Customers leaving their vehicle in an SAT parking area for longer than 30 days must contact the SAT Parking office at 210.207.3465 and make arrangements for such extended stay. Any vehicle left longer than 30 days with no arrangement are subject to tow.
