SAN ANTONIO (Nov. 14, 2014) – Today, District 10 Councilman Mike Gallagher, in partnership with the City of San Antonio’s Department of Planning & Community Development, hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Ross Dress for Less coming to the Northeast Corridor (NEC).
“It is so great to have another national company located in the Northeast Corridor. This provides District 10 residents an affordable and convenient place to shop,” said Councilman Mike Gallagher.
District 10 welcomes Ross Dress for Less and their investment in the NEC. This groundbreaking marks the continual efforts of the NEC as several other new businesses have located in the area including: Walmart, Habanero Grill, Dunkin Donuts, Great Clips, Pizza Patron, Unleashed by Petco, Wingstop, Whataburger, La Tapatia, Spider Man Pest Control and First Choice Emergency Room.
“The signed lease is for approximately 28,000 square feet. To date, there has been $23 million in new, private investment in the NEC,” said Michael Taylor, DPCD interim assistant director.
The Northeast Corridor Revitalization Plan was approved by City Council in June 2014 in an effort to encourage reinvestment in the area. Encompassing an area of approximately 1.8 miles, this plan focuses on two key commercial corridors:
- Perrin Beitel Rd. (from IH 410 to Thousand Oaks Dr.)
- Nacogdoches Rd. (from Thousand Oaks Dr. to O’Connor Rd.).
